Gunung Lanno
Situated about 12km south of Ipoh, Gunung Lanno is one of the biggest limestone outcrops in Kinta Valley. This isolated, densely forested massif was explored by a group of speleologists from Malaysia, Austria and Germany in November 2001.
Throughout the 3 weeks expedition, 36 caves were documented, including 4 cave-temples, and 12km of passages were surveyed. The cave fauna was studied as well, with several new species being discovered.
Aerial investigation via plane showed higher entrances of which not all were reached while the biggest discovery was Gua Puncak, which holds the second largest cave chamber of Peninsular Malaysia. Other big caves include Gua Selari, Gua Lanno and Gua Kong Fook Ngam.
